City of Swan

The Swan Valley, Western Australia’s oldest premium wine growing region is located just 25 minutes drive from Perth CBD and 15 minutes from the domestic airport. Nowhere in the world will you find so many food and wine outlets located so close to a city, which is why we've created the Swan Valley Food and Wine Trail.
This compact 32kms loop is home to more than 40 wineries, five breweries, distilleries, nougat factory, chocolate factory, together with a huge range of restaurants and cafés, many with fabulous views over vineyards, the Swan River and Perth Hills. Art galleries and studios reflect the heritage and culture of the region and there is also a wide range of family attractions including wildlife parks, picnic areas, supa golf and Whiteman Park. Tours include river cruises and wagon trails and accommodation ranges from boutique B&Bs to luxury resorts and caravan parks.
Wine specialties of the region include Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, Shiraz and Verdelho. The region is also recognised world wide for its fortified wines.
Food and Wine Festivals are held year round and include Midsummer Feast (February), Taste of the Valley (April), Seafood and Shiraz (July), Swan Valley Wine Show (September), and Spring in the Valley (October).
Guildford is the oldest inland settlement in WA and is the only town in Perth registered by the National Trust. Discover all the town has to offer on three self-guide heritage walk trails (20 minutes to one hour), passing historic buildings, antique shops, gift shops and a great choice of pubs, cafes and restaurants.
Check out the Gidgegannup Wildflower Drives (53kms and 42kms) 35kms east of Perth. Flowers are at their best between August and November.
Midland – the commercial centre of the Swan Valley with two major shopping centres, markets and the former Midland Railway Workshops, is now emerging as a major tourist attraction.
A free Food and Wine Trail map including maps of Guildford, Midland and Gidgegannup is available from the Swan Valley and Eastern Region Visitor Centre seven days a week.
